What is a Tart Pan or Tart Mold?

A tart pan or tart mold is a shallow, slightly flared and fluted pan, often with a removable bottom for ease in removing the baked item. Tarts have a bottom crust, and are often open faced although tarts can be covered with a second crust either in solid or lattice form. Tart pans can be used for both savory and sweet tarts.
